I Didn’t Think it Through
We’re laughing,
sipping Chianti,
playing Scrabble.
What Morgan doesn’t know is
that I’ve fixed the game,
marked the tiles I’m supposed to pluck
with little dots (in pencil).
On my tray, I have: M3 A1, R1 R1 Y4 M3 E1.
Morgan gets up to grab a blanket.
I smile,
then peek at her letters.
She doesn’t have what I want.
In fact, she has some scary things:
an N1 and a couple O1’s.
Abort mission.
